The application of hydrogen fuel cell trains in rail transportation is gradually gaining attention due to the continuous development of contactless grid-powered trams and high-power fuel cell technology. Hydrogen fuel cell trains, as a new environmentally friendly transportation method, utilize the reaction between hydrogen and oxygen to generate electrical energy for train operation. The findings indicate that hydrogen fuel cell trains offer advantages such as zero emissions, efficient energy utilization, and quiet operation. These benefits contribute to the effective reduction of environmental pollution and energy consumption, making hydrogen fuel cell trains a crucial direction for the future development of urban rail transportation. Nevertheless, hydrogen fuel cell trains encounter various challenges related to hydrogen storage and transportation, construction costs, and policy considerations. To achieve the goal of sustainable development, further efforts should be directed towards enhancing research and promoting applications.
