Abstract As humanity looks to the stars, we find more and more potential candidates that could harbor and/or sustain life. We have built telescopes that have changed the way we are seeing the universe. We have sent unmanned probes and manned spacecrafts to learn if these places could support outposts or even colonies off earth. Humanities presence in space appears to be a certainty, but are we ready for this next step in our development? In order to survive in space I believe it is time to contemplate and discuss volitional evolution, to genetically engineer humans to live in space.
