Topology optimization is a powerful tool in designing highly-functioning and lightweight UAV structures. Then, additive manufacturing is the capable tool to fabricate the organic and novel structural solutions. Hence, this paper makes investigation on topology optimization and additive manufacturing of critical UAV components. The robust topology optimization formulation is employed and its minimum length scale control capability guarantees the manufacturability of the thin structural members. A series of topological designs on the UAV bracket are generated with different minimum structural member sizes, and these designs are tested on their manufacturability based on a continuous fiber composite 3D printer. Through numerical and experimental tests, it is observed that the differences in minimum length scale limit do not obviously distinguish the topological designs in stiffness performance, but they do affect the continuous fiber infill rate. A larger minimum length scale limit leads to more fibers filling the part and under expectation, better structural stiffness can be realized.
