Abstract The paper deals with macroscopic modeling of the traffic flow in the programmable logic controllerbased Tunnel Simulator. All relevant devices of the tunnel technological equipment are simulated by the software inside the programmable logic controller. Simulator offers many HMI/SCADA graphical screens to visualize the state of each subsystem of the technological equipment. Additional graphical screen has been created to add the traffic flow modeling functionality. Traffic flow model outputs (intensity, speed and density) are planned to be used as inputs for other models in the Tunnel Simulator e.g. Evacuation time estimation, Air flow speed modeling inside the tunnel tube.
