Rubblization is an effective rehabilitation method for deteriorated Portland cement concrete (PCC) pavements, although the loss of strength in PCC slab due to rubblization creates the demand for the subgrade to be strong enough to handle traffic after rubbli zation. This paper presents a research effort to develop an analysis method that allows the realistic estimation of subgrade stiffness after rubblization from deflection measurements on intact PCC slabs before rubblization. A dynamic finite element analysis with different nonlinear subgrade models is used to develop various relationships between the nonlinear coefficients and multi-load FWD deflections. These relationships are evaluated from the field validation study in which predicted nonlinear coefficients are compared with laboratory-measured values and predicted deflections on bare subgrade are compared with the measured values.
