The paper presents a summary of case studies regarding the impact of VISUM/VISSIM modeling in the development of a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan. Both the direct and related implications resulting from the experience of the Traffic and Road Safety Research Laboratory are presented in the paper. The result of the analysis is summarized through a documented statistical evaluation, and the conclusions support a proposal of good practices regarding the development of a SUMP for cities in the national area.
