Regional transport networks have great importance equal to or exceed the importance of urban transport networks. Since it is the only link that connects urban and rural settlements, and without these linking urban life development appears almost non-existent. Traffic problems are increasing and varying along with regional transport networks; among the most severe problems are traffic jams and accidents. This research highlights the regional transportation network for a vital transport node (Dujail City), which is located in the north of Baghdad, to specify the nature and characteristics of traffic on this network and identify problems related to transport and traffic along the paths of this network. A survey was conducted for the residents ‘opinions in the city of Dujail using a questionnaire form prepared for this purpose. The survey included a wide range of questions about the nature of the city’s residents’ trips and the regional transport network’s state. Through the analysis of trips and the most critical problems present in this region, it became clear that the weakness of public transport and the deterioration of the transport network were among the main obstacles to transport in this region. Also, it emerged through the analysis that there are strong regional interconnections between the settlements of this region that can be strengthened through the development of the transport network in it to bring about real development throughout the region
