An unsteady three-dimensional flow of incompressible fluid around a circular cylinder is numerically investigated using the Navier–Stokes equations at a Reynolds number of 3900. The integral and distributed characteristics of the flow around the cylinder are analyzed. To analyze the spectrum of a transversal component of the velocity vector in the time domain, the power spectral density and the energy spectrum of the signal are studied. The resulting spectral properties are compared with the scaling laws “–5/3” and “–2” for a sampled in the time domain signal.
