The paper presents a results of study the full-scale self-propulsion characteristic for series cargo ship 12500DWT built in Vietnam based on the unsteady RANSE method with Body Force Propeller method. Two case studies were analyzed: propeller open-water, and self-propulsion simulations. To predict propeller open water characteristics, the Rotating Reference Frame method has been applied. The dynamic trim and sinkage of the ship were taken into account in the self-propulsion simulation. The free surface effects were considered by applying the volume of fluid method for multi-phase flows. The self-propulsion point was achieved by conducting two different runs at a constant ship speed with different propeller revolutions. The numerical results were compared with sea trial data. The solver is used in this article is the package Star-CCM+.
