Addressing the guidance problem of UAV swarms in tracking ground moving target cooperatively, a standoff tracking guidance law and a phase coordination guidance law is proposed. Firstly, A kinematic model of UAVs relative to the target is established, the relative heading angle between the UAV and the target is presented, then the desired heading angle commands based on the relative heading angle is designed. Considering target speed, heading, UAV phases, and UAVs’ relative positions to the target, a phase-coordinated guidance strategy is presented. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve multi-UAVs cooperative standoff tracking of stationary or moving targets. It also enables multi-UAVs to fly around the target in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions, with UAVs evenly arranged in a clockwise or counterclockwise manner on the tracking circle. When tracking stationary targets, the distance between UAVs and the target, as well as the phase difference between UAVs, converge to the desired values. When tracking moving targets, the distance between UAVs and the target, and the phase difference between UAVs, oscillate slightly around the desired values.
