A mathematical model of the flutter of an orthotropic cylindrical shell is constructed. The problem is reduced to a non-self-adjoint eigenvalue problem for an ordinary fourth-order differential equation with a small parameter at the highest derivative. A numerical algorithm without saturation has been developed to solve this spectral problem. As a result of computational experiments, it has been established that flutter occurs when a complex eigenvalue appears in the spectrum of a problem (with an increase in the flow velocity).
