Bicycles are an important part of the future urban infrastructure. However, there is a lack of modern design methods established in other vehicle industries.
Semi-analytical simulation methods have the potential to facilitate the integration of multibody simulation for bicycle design and dimensioning. Operating loads measured at the system boundaries are applied as an excitation to the bicycle within a multibody simulation to calculate accurate loads during driving operations. However, a mandatory requirement for this method is the availability of measurement data.
To broaden the applicability of semi-analytical simulation methods, this paper investigates the transferability of measurement data sets to different bicycle structures. Given the impracticality of conducting a direct load comparison in the time domain due to time shifts, a comparison of total accumulated damage over a test track is conducted at validation points distributed along the structure.
