The exported force and torque (EFT) of space vehicle components can limit the performance of precision optical payloads. Proper derivation of component-level EFT requirements is critical to meeting overall requirements for this kind of mission. This paper presents a systematic methodology to derive EFT requirements that ensure compliance with top level line of sight jitter requirements while not being overly conservative. Tonal and broadband disturbances are considered separately. Several methods for addressing model uncertainty are reviewed. A series of examples are included, providing an illustration of the concepts in this paper.
