Building public acceptability of self-driving vehicles is necessary if we are to unlock the potential societal and economic benefits that they promise, but this is no easy task. Grounded in the findings from the Great Self Driving Exploration and using established behavioural change models (COM-B) this chapter will outline detailed guidance and recommendations for those involved in the development of self-driving transport systems, that if followed will ensure that collectively we are building a user centred self-driving transport system that meets the needs of end users and ensures public acceptability.
