Reducing greenhouse gas emissions is a key component in achieving sustainable development goals. Cargo bicycles play an important role in creating a sustainable transportation system by helping to reduce environmental impact, improve urban quality of life, and enhance economic efficiency. There has been limited attention in the literature to comparatively evaluate the use of cargo bikes and light trucks for urban commercial transportation. The aim of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis of alternative logistics scenarios for urban freight delivery and to justify the advantages of using cargo bicycles over light trucks. Particular attention is paid to comparing the operational characteristics of different types of vehicles, operating costs, greenhouse gas emissions and the possibility of obtaining a social effect aimed at improving the quality of life in the city. The study is focused on taking into account the random nature of demand for cargo transportation in the city. This allows us to identify the optimal conditions for using different types of vehicles and offer solutions that can be flexibly adapted to changing conditions. Logistical scenarios were considered: pendulum routes, delivery routes, delivery assembled routes (I), delivery assembled routes (II). It has been established that the use of electric cargo bikes in urban logistics systems significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and delivery costs. The most efficient logistics scenario for urban delivery involves using delivery routes with an electric cargo bike with a carrying capacity of 350 kg, achieving the lowest emissions and total delivery costs. If a company is limited in resources (vehicles and drivers), a scenario that minimizes the use of these resources may be preferred.
