Hydrogen is a fuel that is produced for industry, transport and energy. To meet sustainability and decarbonization conditions it must meet the assumptions of the Green Taxonomy. In that meaning, hydrogen energy focuses on the production, storage, transport and use of hydrogen as a clean energy carrier. Potential of this fuel in mitigating the effects of climate change cannot be overestimated. The review paper describes the requirements and problems associated with hydrogen and hydrogen-based transport. The possibilities for transport tasks depending on the distance and amount of fuel transported are presented. Pipeline transport and mobile delivery of hydrogen as fuel are discussed. The advantages and disadvantages of each method are outlined, which is naturally often determined by the specific region of the world. Hydrogen-based propulsion is presented, both in terms of hydrogen cells and the possibility of using internal combustion engines. Considerable attention was given to the safety associated with hydrogen transport, taking into account the various modes of transport. An economic approach related to the various sources for obtaining hydrogen as a fuel is also presented.
