Due to reckless driving on the road, the drivers lose their stability while driving and cause major accidents which have cost a lot of harm to the people driving and on the surrounding. Nonetheless, safety efforts for vehicles, specifically, have slacked worldwide guidelines. If we see the present progress in the technologies related to vehicle safety in various developing countries, air-bags and antilock braking systems (ABS) are all offered only in the deluxe models of the cars. Electronic stability control (ESC) is not even an option in even the most premium cars. However, the part which ESC plays in vehicle safety is very big and should be made available in each and every type of car. ESC has taken the concept of ABS and upgraded it with the theories of steering mechanisms and concepts. This system uses alternate braking on alternate wheels which helps extreme turning safe without skidding of the vehicle around its rolling axis. ESC analyzes the conditions keeping in considerations of various factors like oversteer, understeer, traction control, and the yawing effect of the car caused by steering and brakes the wheel according to it and helps to prevent the accident keeping the vehicle safe from skidding. This review paper elaborates the detailed working of the ESC-based system and its importance in modern driving conditions and demands ESC being installed compulsorily in all road vehicles.
