With the rapid advancement of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) have emerged as a critical component to enhance road safety, traffic efficiency, and overall transportation management. However, the integration of communication technologies into vehicles introduces significant privacy and security challenges. This research paper delves into the multifaceted realm of privacy and security concerns in VANETs within the context of ITS.The paper begins by elucidating the fundamental architecture of VANETs, emphasizing the dynamic and self-organizing nature that makes them vulnerable to various threats. It highlights the importance of secure communication and data dissemination among vehicles and infrastructure components, including Roadside Units (RSUs) and Traffic Management Centres (TMCs).Furthermore, the research investigates security measures to protect VANETs from malicious attacks, including jamming, eavesdropping, and message spoofing. It explores cryptographic protocols, intrusion detection systems, and trust management mechanisms as potential solutions to bolster the network's resilience against threats.Ultimately, this research paper serves as a comprehensive overview of the privacy and security challenges faced by VANETs in the context of ITS. By addressing these concerns, we aim to pave the way for safer and more secure intelligent transportation systems that can fully realize their potential in revolutionizing the way we commute and travel.
