Traffic accounts for vehicles on the road, congestion in traffic further poses an irregular functioning of daily commotion of vehicles in traffic. Whether cities are planned or unplanned, Traffic congestion in real time has posed an issue in regular functionality. Traffic management systems have been developed over a period of time and solutions have been sought either through IOT based systems, Image processing systems, Cloud-based systems or otherwise manual interventions. Behavioral components at large are composed of vehicles, controllers, signals, lane controls; advancing current traffic control systems into smart systems takes time and investments. Furthermore, it also requires solutions more invested according to the kinds of cities planned or otherwise within budget allowances. Another aspect of smart traffic management systems is the reduction of pollution with efficient management, control of frequent accidents and coordination or forecasting of rush hours. In this paper the focus remains in highlighting the aspect of smart traffic management systems and how smart vehicles can aid to these systems.
