Situation awareness technology is the key point to realizing the autonomous task execution for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) clusters. The purpose of situational awareness is to achieve the unified description and trend prediction of threats in complex environments by using information fusion, Science and Technology on Complex System Control and Intelligent Agent Cooperation Laboratoryartificial intelligence, and other techniques. In this paper, the concept of cluster situation awareness technology is proposed. Then, applications of cluster situational awareness technology in typical domestic and foreign projects are analyzed. Besides, the technical challenges for situation awareness technology are introduced. Furthermore, the technical framework and key technologies of UAV cluster situational awareness are expounded. Finally, future development directions regarding situational awareness are presented. This review paper analyzes the challenges and connotation of cluster situation awareness technology to provide support for research in this field.
