The horizontal stabilizer trim actuator (HSTA) is an actuating device for the horizontal stabilizer of a civil aircraft. It is one of the key equipments for the aircraft to realize pitch control. At present, the HSTA technology is gradually changing from power-by-fluid to power-by-wire. Based on the application of the development of more electric aircraft, the development of HSTA is overviewed; Contrasting the current mainstream HSTA design schemes of civil aircrafts, the electromechanical HSTA is mainly highlighted. The key technology involved in the HSTA is studied, and the future development trend of the HSTA is proposed.
