Driving cycle is defined as the speed-time profile of a selected route or region. Driving cycle is often used by environmentalists, traffic engineers and vehicle manufacturers to analyse fuel consumption and emission of vehicles. Besides, driving cycle is also widely used in automotive sectors to study and produce energy efficient vehicles to comply with Goal 3 of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). An accurate driving cycle development methodology must be constructed to enable engineers to retrieve accurate information and at the initial stage of development, a proper data collection method is crucial based on real-world driving behavior. Since driving cycle consists of hundreds of micro trips according to clusters and feature extractions, practical data handling method is constructed in this research together with a prototype of driving cycle tracking device (DC-TRAD) in which it manages all the collected information systematically into phpMyAdmin database system. This research is an initiative to improve previous study on DC-TRAD since the big data storing method used previously had been obsoleted.
