In recent years, urban rail transit has seen rapid development due to its high capacity and fast speed, playing a crucial role in urban passenger transportation systems and exerting significant influence on traditional public transportation, urban land use, and environmental quality. This paper aims to analyze the current situation and existing problems of interchange between urban rail transit and conventional public transportation-buses, and propose improvement suggestions. In accordance with the requirements of sustainable development, the basic theories of transfer coordination are elaborated from three aspects: social benefits, environmental benefits, and economic benefits. The methods of reading relevant literature and conducting field surveys are mainly adopted to analyze the influencing factors of interchange such as time, distance, and interchange facilities. Additionally, the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) and Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Method are compared, and a evaluation model is established by combining their advantages. Through selecting typical transfer station-Nanjing Railway Station for case study, it is proved that the evaluation system can be applied to practice and can identify the problems of transfer station, such as excessively long waiting times, distant transfer distances, and inadequate transfer facilities in the current interchange between urban rail transit and conventional buses. Based on the evaluation results, conclusions are drawn and suggestions for improving the interchange experience are proposed. Specific measures include optimizing interchange station design, providing convenient transfer information service, increasing interchange facilities, and improving station operational capacity to enhance the transfer experience and alleviate traffic congestion issues.
