Three kinds of optical fiber hydrophones with different diameters are designed to study the influence of hydrophone diameter on the towed noise of optical fiber hydrophone towed array in this paper. By establishing the towed noise prediction model of the optical fiber hydrophone towed array, the rule of the towed noise changing with the optical fiber hydrophone diameter is simulated: the towed noise decreases with the decrease of the optical fiber hydrophone diameter, and the higher the frequency, the better the suppression effect of the towed noise. In order to verify the actual effect, the towed noise test system is established, the optical fiber hydrophone towed array with three different diameter hydrophones was tested on the lake. The results show that when the diameter of the hydrophones is reduced by 1mm at the towed speed of 4m/s, the towed noise is reduced by about 1.1dB@100Hz. When the diameter of hydrophones is reduced by 1mm at the towed speed of 7m/s, the towed noise is reduced by about 0.55dB@100Hz. The results of the lake test are consistent with those of the model simulation, which shows they are accurate and effective.
