In image processing and analysis, the main parameters that are used to control the image transformations are the light intensity, the size and the orientation of an object. Mathematical Morphology has operators that are controlled with these parameters. Moreover, there is a class of operators, based on morphological reconstruction, that are controlled by another parameter, namely, connectivity. This feature allows to assess whether two objects are touching or not. It has also been generalized to graytone images. It is a robust parameter, in image processing, and the goal of this paper is to illustrate this class of operators. The application we used to illustrate this segments and filters runways.
