Launched in 2020, the Djibouti Space Program consists of acquiring knowledge and know-how for the design and production of nanosatellites. The first phase of this program consisted of a training part at the Montpellier University (from October 2020 to March 2021) followed by the conduct of the HYDROSAT Mission in collaboration with the Montpellier University Space Center (CSUM). Djiboutian students successfully designed and built their first nanosatellite, DJIBOUTI-1A, followed by DJIBOUTI-1B. DJIBOUTI-1A, a 1U CubeSat, was launched on November 11, 2023, and is currently operational. The primary mission, HYDROSAT, aims to collect and transmit climatological and hydrological data to support environmental protection and economic development. The project also explores the use of nanosatellites for real-time data collection in remote areas. This paper presents the HYDROSAT mission and the first operational results of DJIBOUTI-1A.
