VRU (Vulnerable Road Users) are important participants in road traffic. According to statistics, the proportion of traffic safety accidents related to VRU is the highest. In order to reduce traffic accidents, many vehicles are equipped with active safety and automatic emergency braking functions that can identify pedestrians, two-wheelers, etc. The NCAP (New Car Evaluation Regulations) of many countries around the world also introduces the AEB VRU test evaluation scenario. This article comprehensively analyzes the global mainstream NCAP test system, introduces each typical AEB VRU test scenario. And analyzed the VRU target's vision, infrared characteristics, radar detection attributes, and micro-Doppler effect, in addition, summarized the research status and deficiencies of VRU targets. Finally summarizes the development direction of the AEB VRU test scenario.
