In order to achieve the required level of system safety, it is often necessary to specify scheduled single system check periods for duplicated or triplicated systems, where failure of one system is neither indicated nor evident to the pilot or ground crew.
This paper presents the techniques used in the analysis of the A300 tailplane trim actuator service data, for the purpose of identifying a check period and overhaul life, consistent with continued safe economic operation.
