The climbing of guided transport vehicles during a crash is investigated by experiment. The experimental test at real size is the collision of moved train against another stopped train. The cinematography results describe the course of events leading to climbing and the mechanism of deformation. Next, two numerical simulations are presented, the first one is based on the global rigid multi-body model and the second one is a finite element modelling. The results of modelling and experimental comparison show how these numerical methods are of interest to the study of climbing problems.
