This paper describes a collaborative training program being conducted by the Florida Institute of Technology and the Civil Aviation Flying College in Guanghan, China (CAFC), with commercial sponsorship. The current training program is part of a multi-year, international initiative. The comprehensive program discussed includes: university level academic courses for student aviators and future aviation industry managers at CAFC, training for flight instructors and aviation facility safety managers, and incorporation of safety enhancement training in the flight syllabus. The collaborative program is also designed to enable the communication of requirements and performance goals for graduating students with airline operational representatives. Topics for presentation and discussion are: aviation safety course content and format, training methodology, use of simulation and modeling, and the unique needs and opportunities of the Chinese civil aviation profession.
