Our paper is presenting a method to control the preheating temperature of methanol, in accordance with engine speed and ignition advance in methanol direct injection engine. To reduce Sauter diameter of methanol droplets and to intensify the methanol massic velocity of vaporization, is necessary to increase the methanol temperature before its injection into engine cylinders. In this way a rapid air-methanol mixture formation is achieved and a fast speed of combustion obtained. To estimate methanol consumption we have used a methanol direct injection with spark ignition engine. The methanol consumption per hour and methanol specific consumption in correlation with power and engine speed has been measured.Using the calculated methanol flow, an electronic preheating control system of methanol depending on engine speed and ignition advance was designed. The method has an improving effect on air-methanol mixture formation and on speed of combustion.
