Heavy-duty vehicles are under more scrutiny than ever from regulatory agencies, which are requiring truck engine manufacturers to reduce emissions. Fuel providers will also be required to produce cleaner diesel and sufficient supplies to meet the projected demand. The movement is to cleaner fuels and technologies to meet these stringent regulations.Hybrid drive trains are likely to be the most likely advanced drive train technology to be adopted in heavy-duty vehicles over the next 10-20 years. Natural gas engines will also see an increase in use. But fuel cells will likely still be some years away from adoption in serious numbers.
