Stochastic Design Improvement (SDI) has been effectively implemented by a number of automobile companies to improve product design. An SDI uses the results of a stochastic simulation. This paper outlines the processes for conducting stochastic simulation and SDI. These processes are compelling in that they change the traditional engineering process to take advantage of recent advances in computers.
