Available data for designing reliable torque requirements for various nut and bolt types are not generally applicable to all situations. As a result, on-the-spot information of a specific character must be often sought. This paper discusses the problems involved in torque tension research, describes data obtained from experiment, and suggests an approach toward obtaining more complete information for the industry.
