The paper describes a novel system suitable for retrofitting to any internal combustion engine fitted with a carburetor fuel device. The system uses modern electronics to control the fuelling and ignition timing of the engine to reduce fuel consumption and polluting exhaust emissions. The guiding principles of the designers were to produce a system suitable for older engine designs used throughout the developing world that would benefit the economies and environments of such countries. The system is a low cost solution and is designed to be manufactured locally.
