The reaction injection molding process can be characterized as a low pressure (in-situ) process which is energy efficient, requires moderate capital and tooling. It was originally developed by suppliers of the automotive industry, which remains its largest market. Application of the process to other products, which initially lagged, is now in a growth phase. Recent installation of facilities for molding very large parts provides a new resource and challenge to develop innovative applications.
