Coating resins have been developed which adhere well to a variety of plastic substrates without the use of an adhesion promoter or other surface preparation. These resins are based on a new polyolefin diol, cured with either melamine resins or with isocyanates. The procedure for preparing these resins and the performance of these resins in laboratory screening tests will be presented. The potential for using these resins in basecoat / clearcoat systems will be discussed.
