A constitutive model for semi-brittle material such as aluminum is developed and implemented in the crash code FCRASH for crash analysis of aluminum structures. The model is formulated using the framework of elasto-plastic damage mechanics theory and as such can account for crack induced anisotropy and property degradation within a shell element. The model has been used to analyze the frontal impact of an aluminum vehicle. The results obtained from the analysis showed an excellent agreement with the test.
