The search for advanced materials with better properties and less environmental impact led to the development of new polymeric compounds in the bioplastics class. In this sense, the present study carried out an experimental research aiming to evaluate the physical, mechanical and thermal properties of polyamide 5.6 compared to polyamide 6.6. The developed polyamide 5.6 is a biopolymer obtained from renewable sources with a significant reduction of fossil raw materials by up to 45% in the carbon footprint and its molecular structure confers an improvement in tensile strength, durability and fatigue endurance. The results of the studies impose a similarity in the performance of the 5.6 biopolymer with materials traditionally applied in the sector, polyamide 6.6. The results suggest a good alternative to add value to the product and environmental interests.
