In the past 10 years there have been a drastic evolution in car electronics. Most mechanically operated systems as like an engine control for example has switched to an electronic system to have more precise method to control the system and in some cases more cost effective. Due to the implementation of electronically controlled systems more and more information could be handled within these systems, and with more and more information there is a turning point that there is a large benefit to have a common use of the information. Now in-vehicle network is playing a major part in car electronics. CAN(Controller Area Network) is one of the most popular candidate for real time communications between the systemsThis paper will describes the development concept of our new CAN module for embedded microcontrollers targeting automotive applications. Currently CAN have been used as one of the most popular control network systems. Due to expansion of data transactions via CAN, data handling by the module or by the controller has been a major subject. We have developed a method to handle the large amount of data with the least CPU(Central Processing Unit) overhead to provide maximum performance of the CPU. This will be shown with a simulation result in comparison of the new CAN module and the conventional CAN module, along with an example to show the efficiency in a application such as ACC(Adaptive Cruise Control) system. And furthermore this new CAN module will have the capability to cooperate with the latest requirements of the CAN specification such as the time triggered CAN of the ISO(International Organization for Standardization) standard.
