In general, using simulation to solve problems of human behaviour, as in done in Engineering, is particularly difficult. Making use of research into motor vehicle maneuverability, this article studies, from the engineering perspective, a computer simulation of working memory storage disabilities of automobile drivers. Firstly, utilising theories drawn from cognitive psychology, motor vehicle maneuverability dynamics, and fuzzy control theory, a driver working memory simulation model is advanced. The model integrates working memory, which is a critical factor in predicting complex cognitive manipulation activities. Secondly, the driver's working memory storage disability is simulated using the model and its effects on motor vehicle maneuverability and stability are assessed. The test results show that, in order to meet the requirements for vehicle maneuverability and stability, a driver must possess a working memory storage capacity of not less than four chunks.
