Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) are coming into view as one of the most practicable alternative to conventional automobiles. The development objectives for this progressive technology include emissions reduction, while obtaining better fuel economy, as well as the flexibility of using either petroleum or alternative fuels. In this study, necessary modifications in body and chassis of a transit city bus power-train in order to convert it to hybrid electric bus are investigated. Positioning of the whole new components is also taken into account.
