IMPORTANT gains in passenger-car engine power and efficiency have resulted from design improvements that take advantage of increasing gasoline antiknock quality. Experiments with 7/1, 9.5/1, and 12/1 compression ratio reported in this paper show how similar gains can be achieved in tractor engines by applying the same principles.Of particular importance to this and future development programs that are to use these principles effectively, the authors say, are: IMPORTANT gains in passenger-car engine power and efficiency have resulted from design improvements that take advantage of increasing gasoline antiknock quality.
