The automotive industry is the main target of a new generation of phenolic molding materials. Excellent creep resistance at high temperatures is the basic property, which makes a phenolic material attractive for engineering applications. Specific applications however, require a more complicated set of properties in different chemical environments such as anti-freeze agents, brake fluids and motor oils. The versatility of phenolic composites allows to tailor chemically resistant formulations with low to very high modulus, from 5.000 to 20.000 N/mm2.
