Many problems of recent origin have developed in the automotive service field. The technical complexities of the automotive product, the rapid expansion of vehicle population, and the resultant increased demand for automotive service have created service training problems for car and truck dealers. In addition, young men have shown a reluctance to enter the field of automotive service. The General Motors Training Centers were established to assist dealers in General Motors products with these problems. Through their network of 30 Training Centers new mechanics are trained, and experienced mechanics are retrained to meet the demand for skill in servicing present and future General Motors products.
