The various procedures for the analysis of dynamic data are summarized. Examples are given of analog and digital methods for selected types of analyses. The relative merits of analog versus digital processing in terms of reliability, speed, cost, flexibility, and accessibility are examined. It is concluded that analog analysis methods have the advantages of low cost, accessibility, and flexibility; whereas digital methods have the advantages of high speed, reliability, and capability for handling complex analyses. It is speculated that there are possible directions for combining the advantages and minimizing the limitations of both types of analysis.
