Many ITE members give back in ways that go beyond their day-to-day job responsibilities. This message highlights a few of those efforts, thanks those who are involved, and provides some ideas for those who might be interested in giving back. As a first example, LOCATE DriveSmart is an educational outreach program that goes into high schools and teaches students about the importance of seat belt use and the risks associated with distracted and impaired driving. This initiative was started in 2007 by MOVITE Section President Matthew Selinger, who was promoting ways for local chapters to "make a difference" in their communities. Recognizing this need, ITE has established a Mentoring Committee and tasked them with developing an ITE mentoring program.
