This paper proposes a cooperative guidance law that attempts to reduce the variability of the relative look angle between two missiles that pursue the same maneuvering target, while not interfering with the intercept mission. The relative look angle is defined as the angle between the velocity vector of a missile and the line of sight to the other missile. The motivation for the stated problem is to assure that communication between missiles in the salvo can be performed using directional antennas, which would improve the communication performance. The guidance law design is performed using a linear quadratic optimal control approach. Three cooperative guidance laws are proposed. Their performance is studied and analyzed using the numerical simulation results of a planar nonlinear intercept.
