ITE took a bold step forward in initiating the recent Vision Zero Taskforce aiming to assist local municipalities with the right tools to take Vision Zero policies and goals to implementation. Vision Zero acknowledges that human beings are fallible; we make mistakes. Therefore, they must design road safety systems and policies that allow for mistakes without such severe consequences as death. Vision Zero recognizes that many factors contribute to safe mobility, including street design, traffic enforcement, behavior, and policies. Therefore, they need a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to road safety. ITE is delighted to support and be part of this new safety culture moving forward.
