Transportation has changed and evolved over the last century. The past is different than the present and so will be the future. But as transportation professionals, the spirit to lead and innovate stays the same, and this spirit connects you to both the past and the future. Looking forward, there will have more older drivers by 2045, at which time 77% of Americans will be over the age of 65. Customers' needs are leading transportation professionals to define the goal for the 21st century -- a goal of making transportation safer and more reliable for all the users of the system. Like the early 20th century, the 21st century is promising change and innovation. Some of the big changes that impact transportation include three things: connectedness, automation, and big data. Thus, champions and leaders will be needed to steer the industry in a new direction.
